the dentist made me do it 30/09/2005 4:10PM

Well, not really. In fact, he really tried to persuade me otherwise. But I was having no part of it and so, very graciously, he agreed on the proviso that I would proclaim to the world his skill and virtuosity. Naturally I agreed as it was nothing for me and I hate hate hate beyond all reason getting frozen for this kind of work.

His name by the way is Dr. Nilesh Salgar. A pleasant guy, and most accommodating when it comes to squirming, moaning middle-aged men in the chair beneath him. If he had a website, I would link it but for the moment you can satisfy your cred DTs with this view of his office.

So here I am bearing witness to you all that Dr. Salgar is so good, so skilled, that he performs root canals without anaesthetic! On request only, to be clear. Normal folk go the freezing route and I would have to say it is probably his preference.

Yes it's true, folks. Once again, I climbed the mountain of pain and descended to the plains of tranquility none the worse for wear. Not so sure about the dear Dr. but he's a good sport on top of being a good dentist.

bloody well about time - part deux27/09/2005 8:52PM

Reading this you may wonder what has happened to us, back at the ranch. Almost 6 months between posts? Well, beside getting old and fat, we have been keeping our noses to the grindstone trying to weed out the extraneous and get away from the dreary old depressing motif.

Finally, though, I have succumbed. Succumbed to the inevitable, the unavoidable truth - some things really don't matter that much.

One of my day job duties is to be the "guardian at the gate" for all products destined for the web. I talk a lot about pursuit of perfection, bug creep, out of sight out of mind. My mantra is "not absolutely perfect, just mostly perfect!".

Of course it never is that way. Life intrudes, the reality of doing business intrudes, and guess what? I may know it has a million bugs and is ugly as sin, but most visitors bypass that whole angst and get on with doing what they came to do, and go on their merry way, none the wiser.

And so I hope it will be with you, dear reader, as peruse the old homestead once again. It ain't pretty, but it is cleaner and under the hood, a LOT cleaner. All of which was triggered by version 2 of my online resume, released just days ago now.
